Despite the 3:30am alarm a few weeks back that Friday morning couldn’t have come any sooner. I was so excited to head to LA I could barely sleep. I hadn’t been since dental school when I drove cross country with my brother to move him out to San Francisco for residency and couldn’t wait to get back and enjoy some girl time. We landed fairly early and check into our Air BNB which was absolutely adorable. We didn’t end up spending much time downtown where our place was but that first night we did have an amazing dinner close by thanks to a recommendation from my friend Supra. The first stop was Venice after we got situated and strolling Abbott Kinney with some lemonade and popping in and out of all the shops was just the relaxation we wanted. We grabbed brunch at the The Butcher’s Daughter which was my dream aesthetic. SO much subway tile and greenery I was in heaven. I have become so much more invested in home decor as I get older and it’s probably has to do with my desire to finally have a home of my own and settle into a cost spot with my family. Hopefully, that’s close on the horizon with Trevor finishing up fellowship in 2017!

After brunch we headed to grab a coffee from Blue Bottle since the early wake up call was setting in and wander the neighborhood. It may have been because we spent so much time in Venice our first day but it was definitely my favorite spot from the weekend. So many unique people, stores & vibes it felt so laid-back and relaxed.

I was excited to get these peep toe booties in and was excited to see they had a bit of a blush tone but are a true camel and neutral tone I could wear with anything. I threw them on with this floral midi dress. If you haven’t noticed midi length is my best friend – I’m not a huge fan of short things and they always feel more comfortable. It was the perfect combo for our first day and I could always throw on my grey cardigan in case the wind go a little chilly. I ordered a size up on this dress only because I don’t like tops to be suction tight on me and liked the fit. It’s not a stretchy material so if you are in between sizes I would recommend going up!

It was also my first time wearing my new Chloe bag. I’m sure you’ve seen this one everywhere but I was loved the metal detail and it felt edgy and chic to me plus the suede and leather contrast is to die for. It’s my first Chloe bag and I love the durability and that it’s cross body so I can dress it up or down. I had originally ordered it in this blush color (I know the blush obsession…) but when it arrived it was a bit more salmon and not neutral like I had hoped and I’m so glad I decided to go with this tan color.

Needless to say the first afternoon in LA was a fun one and we were more than ready to head back to our place and take a nap before dinner out! If you haven’t planned a girls trip in a while I hope that this can be a reminder to do it. It’s always great to get away and explore new places and with friends!
