How To Save Your Skin This Winter

winter skin tips

Winter sure does wreak havoc on your skin. Especially if you are a Chicago gal like me, that wind can really do a number on you. Over the past 7 years (can you believe it’s been that long!) living here I have definitely picked up a few tricks and tips I swear by and thought I would share a few with you guys along with where I snag them for an affordable price.

Skincare in general can be pricey. Face masks, eye creams, exfoliates – it all adds up, quickly. Marshalls is a great place I can pick up brand I love for a fraction of the price. At first, I have to be honest I was a bit hesitant to pick up beauty brands there for fear they may be old or out of date. Luckily, I investigated a bit and learned that the products in Marshalls are never ‘last season’ or ‘old’ just a different shipment than what heads to other department stores. They always carry some of my favorite beauty brands like Advanced Clinicals, Bliss and Derma E.

So much of what I change during these dry and cold months is moisturizer! I am in love with the collagen body lotion. I use it every morning after I shower and it keep me feeling hydrated all day. I try to do the same with my skin, hair and nails! Moroccan oil hair masks have worked wonders in keeping my frizz at bay and helping it stay silky and this coconut repair oil is the best! I use it lightly on my face to hydrate and heal dark spots! The Derma e can also be used in the same fashion but I like it more for my cuticles and hands.

Besides beefing up my moisturizer, I try to make sure I’m cleansing nightly and not drying my skin out with scalding hot water. These organic face wipes re great at night when I am cold and don’t feel like splashing water over my face. I try not to use them every day, so I can still exfoliate but do so less often.

What tricks do you try during these dry months?
