Our Bedroom Progress

Feb 19, 2021

Good morning & welcome to another house update

I’ve been trying to be better about sharing progress here because it takes so long for me to really feel like a space is truly finished. It’s nice to see where we started and how far we have come. Our bedroom is one of my favorite spaces in the house and one that has changed the most.

It was the only room with carpet when we purchased the house so we had that ripped up while the house was being painted. Luckily, the original hardwood below was in good shape and they were able to finish and seal it for us.

After that, we decided to change the configuration of the room a bit but keep all of our old furniture and put this room on the backburner. As much as I had a vision for where I wanted this space to go, we had everything we needed in here and I want to prioritize what needed done and where we could allocate budget.

Two years later, we are almost done. Still on the list is finding a vintage piece of art for over the bed! I had gone back and forth about purchasing something new and having it framed but I really want a vintage oil painting. I have one more local spot I want to check out before I give up! I also need to finish putting the final touches on our nightstands like new hardware and a small dish or two. Another thing I’ll be browsing for at the antique store 🙂

Lastly, I needed to order pillows for our bed! I don’t know why this has taken me so long aside from the fact that they are generally so expensive and I couldn’t decide on anything. I finally committed over the weekend since there were so many President’s Day sales and bought two of these large pillows and this lumbar pillow! I own pillows from both brands and have had them for years with no problems so it felt like a safe purchase. I will report back as soon as I receive them!
