I know things get busy here on the blog but I hope to start taking a break from Fashion & Food every few weeks to breathe and just chat life and hear about yours. So much has been happening here behind the scenes that I’m excited about and does anyone else feel like the transition to spring is always like this?
We’re MOVING.
Well, only two block away but it’s beyond exciting for me. Our condo now is gorgeous but we have been here for 4 years and I was ready for a change (Trevor hates moving…) I also really wanted to move somewhere more affordable so we could save to hopefully buy a house in the next year or so. My husband will be finished with fellowship in the spring of 2017 and hopefully will have signed a contract before then. It’s crazy to think that we will have lived here for 6 years soon since it feels like it was just yesterday that I made the drive with my mom. I can’t wait to share photos of the new space soon and am most excited about redecorating. So many of my existing furniture pieces were random quick buys made in a haste when I first moved to Chicago on my own. Not that I don’t love them but my style has evolved and I have slowly been selling anything I don’t see as ‘forever furniture’ I can’t wait to start piecing together our new rooms little by little with more long term pieces and take you guys along for the ride.
Home Office Prep.
Speaking of exciting things about the move – I will finally have space to create a home office and I can not wait. Most of my writing and blog work is done at a coffee shop or on my couch which can get old. I can’t wait to decorate this space and have already decided on this desk and a few of these prints! I’m still debating lighting and am in between this & this – suggestions welcome! I want to make sure I keep the area clean and don’t clutter it with junk so I am planning on keeping the ‘decor’ very limited. I would love to hear what your must have’s are on your desk.
My Green Thumb.
If you follow me on Snapchat you know I have been desperately trying to improve my green thumb! I have had a few cacti for a while but recently got a smaller house plant and my goal has been to not let it die. Harder than it sounds but I’m happy to share it is still going strong and now I’m on the hunt for a tall house plant that isn’t impossible to keep alive either. I love the way fiddle fig plants look (I’m sure you see them all over Pinterest) but everyone I know that has one kills it or it always looks like it’s dying. I recently discovered a few options during some intense investigation that seem affordable and easy to maintain so I think I’m going to go with one of those – stay tuned next week for a post on the top 5!
Staying Sane.
I’ve been doing my best to stay ahead of everything but the past few weeks have been insanely busy at work leaving me frazzled and worn out after work + blogging. I’ve been trying to stick to the tips I shared and remember what’s really important at the end of the day. It’s a great reminder to me that a blog post going up or slacking on my social media is not going to matter in the long run and my focus needs to remain on my relationships with my husband, family & friends. Anyone else ever feel like that?
Vitamin D.
By the time you read this I have probably already landed in LA with Blair! I can’t tell you how much a weekend away is needed and I am so excited to explore and soak up all the sun (with sunscreen on!) Follow along on Snapchat & Instagram and hope you all have an amazing weekend!
Hope y’all have a blast in LA!

Thank you boo – we miss you!!! I know I am so happy you love organizing!
Congrats on the move! So exciting! I redid my home office this past Summer and it made all the difference. I too was working from the couch 🙂 And I completely know what you mean about life being crazy lately. The office has been so busy for a straight 12 months now and I have feel like I often lose complete control of the blog and social. I told myself this year I would worry less 🙂 I’m working on it 🙂 Have such a great weekend!

Thank Anna! Oh my gosh right? Working from the couch does not boost productivity or happiness haha. I hope work slows down soon and you have a wonderful weekend!
