Why I Started To Automate My Life

Zain wouldn’t stop staring at our delivery truck!

If you had asked me 6 months ago what parts of my life were ‘automated’ I would have probably replied ‘What does that mean?’ Luckily, I’m friends with Jess Keys who is one of the most savvy people I know and opened my eyes to life shortcuts I never even knew existed. The first tiny entrance into this new world but email responders. I get hundreds of email’s a day and I hardly ever have time to read let alone reply to each one. I created a template for a few different emails I routinely receive and now I can just insert those and edit a few things here and there and off it goes. So much easier right?

After having Zain these automations have become much more important. I no longer have time to do the mundane things I once enjoyed checking off my to do list and look for any and every way to make my life easier. This means never going to the grocery store! Trust me when I say I hate going to the grocery. Nothing about seems fun, relaxing or enjoyable to me and before Trevor started fellowship it was solely his responsibility. Last year when he was working so much I would stop by on the way home from work and loathe every second of it. You can imagine my glee to release this responsibility when Zain came along. Not to mention, how do people do it with children and why haven’t they invented a cart that accommodates a car seat and groceries? The one time I tried to fit my car seat in there I had room left for about one box of crackers. Now with the crazy winter getting him out of his car seat and into a baby carrier inside my puffer coat is near impossible. I tried it once and will never be doing that again!

Sadly, the delivery fee’s have become crazy expensive here in Chicago and my groceries never seem to be right. I tried out a few places and my orders were always wrong and I would end up having to trek to the store myself even after paying the astronomical delivery fee. So, when Jewel-Osco approached me about possibly working together to get the word out about their new grocery delivery service I had some reservations. Was it affordable? Was it grocery store prices (you know those places that up charge all the food…) and was it convenient?

When I looked through the specifics and then tried it out myself, I was sold! Not only was it quick, easy and affordable if you happen to have a 4-hour window for delivery you typically don’t even pay a fee! GUYS! That is amazing. Beyond that, the longer your delivery window is the less your fee and that can make all the difference if you happen to be around on the weekend to receive the package. They also save your shopping history so it’s much quicker and easier when you go to place a new order. I just added most of the basics from our previous order and a few notes with it! I liked that the people choosing my products really paid attention what I requested. I usually like to pick out my own produce and fresh meat so I did my best to describe what I like and got exactly that. They also offer same day delivery, one hour delivery and delivery 7 days a week just make sure you have a minimum order of $30! So, here’s how the delivery fees generally break down:

  • Place orders before 1:00 pm for Same Day Delivery
    • Order before 3:00 am for delivery between 7:00 am and 10:00 am
    • Order before 5:00 am for delivery between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm
    • Order before 1:00 pm for delivery between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm
    • Home delivery fees vary by delivery window, but are typically:
  • 1-hour delivery window: $5.95 on purchases of $150 or more, $7.95 on purchases under $150
  • 2-hour delivery window: $2.95 on purchases of $150 or more, $4.95 on purchases under $150
  • 4-hour delivery window: Typically FREE

I was also ecstatic that my food came cold and fresh and everything I had requested was present. We were trying solids for the very first time with Zain so it was so nice that they took note of the message I had left about the ripeness of the avocado and delivered just what we needed. I know some people prefer to grab it themselves so it’s nice they offer the Drive Up & Go™ option at some locations too which costs nothing to you.

They are offering a few amazing coupon’s to my readers so make sure you use these before it’s too late! For $25 Off + Free Delivery on your 1st order when you spend $100 or more use promo code JEWELSWEEPS (valid until 2/28/18) or for Free Delivery on your 1st order with a $30 minimum purchase use promo code FREE (valid on orders placed until 2/28/18)

I’m so jazzed about this new service and all the amazing promo’s and options Jewel offers. Let me know if you use any and how your service was, we have loved it so far!
