So often I get asked about work – mostly If I still work, where I work & what my schedule is. I realize being a dentist and fashion blogger is an odd combination and since I’ve been receiving emails asking me to break it down lately I thought I would open up a bit about it!
I do and have always worked – when I first finished my residency at Loyola I entered the ‘corporate dentistry’ world for lack of a better option. Finding a job as an associate is a struggle and it’s hard to not own your own practice and do things the way you see best without asking someone in charge. I wasn’t super happy there and was working Saturday’s (which I loathed) so I later left for my current office where I work as a solo dentist. The owner is not practicing any longer and basically leaves me in charge, which is amazing. The hours are great and I don’t work weekends which makes me extremely happy. During the slow months we will schedule longer days Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday and close Wednesdays just because that’s our preference. It allows me to meet up with Blair during the week and shoot outfits, write posts & just be creative. I never want to get so wrapped up in ‘blog work’ that it isn’t fun anymore and takes time away from my family or husband on the weekends.
I realize I am so lucky to have the time and flexibility to pursue something I really care about while working, although it’s not always easy. You may have noticed for the past few months I have been blogging much more frequently – being organized and getting in a rhythm has finally happened thanks to these changes.
Day to day I often wear scrubs to work (because I’m lazy) but when I do muster up the energy black crop pants are my go to! I’m obsessed with these new Avery crop’s from Banana Republic and can not tell you how perfectly they fit my frame. They have just the right amount of stretch to them and I like the where the crop hits your leg. Pair them with a stripe top or button up and just trade in your loafers for heels and you are ready for cocktail hour!
Sadly, this white oxford of mine is on it’s last leg but I just haven’t been able to find the perfect replacement. I am in search of a great boyfriend fit that isn’t too long (is that specific? ha) Let me know if you have one you love and hope you are all having a wonderful week!
so thankful you have a flexible job so we can play on Wednesdays!
