I don’t know about you guys but the rain kills my productivity. All I want to do is curl up on the couch and watch holiday movies. There is something so soothing about rain falling, candles lit and a cozy blanket on the couch. Now that I have a baby that really isn’t an option anymore but it sure is a nice day dream. On top of mommy duty, I have so many things to get done this week. I have a work event coming up this Friday (more on that soon!) and have so much to do in the meantime. So I have been dragging myself out of the house to try and get as caught up as I can before this weekend.

I thought this outfit that showcased what to wear on a rainy day was perfect for today since we’ve been in a torrential downpour for several days here in Chicago. I’ll be honest, I avoided Hunter rain boots for as long as I could. By that, I mean I literally just purchased these last week and already bought the glossy pair too. Back when I was in college (ugh, memories!) I had snagged a pair and remember them being so large on my calf and absolutely impossible to walk in. I had immediately returned them and never tried them on again till a few weeks ago. I’m fairly certain they totally revamped the style and fit because I was shocked when I put them on again and they fit well and were also easy to walk in.

As much as I had fought it, I need them. I despise having wet feet and with all the rain and snow we get in Chicago it’s easier to throw these on then it is to lace up my snow boots when it’s not terribly cold. I recommend ordering true to size and trust me when I say you need them in your life.

This outfit wasn’t only a first because of my boots but my jacket too. As a reformed ‘preppy’ girl I haven’t worn Barbour in years. I was in need of another in between weather coat (this green anorak has been and still is my go-to) that was a little heavier and this fit the bill. Jess and Kelly convinced me that the all black version it wasn’t that preppy and I couldn’t deny how comfortable it was. I layered it over a cozy camel sweater and black jeans and was not only warm but also dry!

Hope you guys are having a great week and if you didn’t happen to catch yesterday’s post make sure to check it out. It’s such an amazing organization and if you are interested in volunteering just let me know! I am putting together a holiday event and would love for you all to join!

  1. Such a cozy look! It’s been rainy in West Michigan too, so I’ve been pulling out some of my cozier pieces too.
