Happy Wednesday friends!
It is a big week here in the Khan Holland house. We found our perfect home and just finished sorting through all the steps and are officially homeowners! Can you believe it? House hunting and the process after having an offer accepted was not nearly as exciting or fun as I had envisioned but it is done! It’s finally starting to sink in that we are about to have our own place and we couldn’t be more thankful.
I’m so glad we waited for it to feel right because things really do always work out. We are actually still moving into my parent’s to start off with since we want to paint and have the floors done before any of our furniture is moved in.
So, on to the house! Our house came on the market on a Thursday morning and my friend Catherine went to see it that night. She took the most extensive and helpful videos for us and after seeing them we drove home the next day to see it ourselves! We knew it wouldn’t stay on the market long and we didn’t want to take any chances. We put in an offer soon after we left our showing and were devastated when we got the call that we lost out to another offer.
After losing another house (remember the one we lost here?) we decided to stop looking till we actually moved back because the road trips were killing us and we were beyond exhausted. We knew the right house would come along and tried to not obsess over our loses.
A few days later while we were at the park with Zain our realtor text us to see if we could talk. The other offer had fallen through due to timing and we were stunned. We immediately submitted a new offer, went through some negotiations and had it accepted! I guess everything does work out in the end and we couldn’t be happier.
The exterior of the house is exactly what we had envisioned and the inside is a dream. Not to mention the location is as close to our perfect situation as we could have imagined. For old homes, finding an open floor plan can be tough but this house is updated and has great bones. There is of course work that needs to be done but it’s mostly superficial and I think some fresh paint and our taste in furniture will do wonders. I can NOT stop the Pinterest home decor obsession, anyone else?
I can’t wait to share more with you all along the way—as soon as we get back to Louisville I am going to record a home tour video pre renovations/paint/etc so you can see it bare and then follow along our process to decorate and renovate!
The only downside to this wonderful news is that we will be heading back to Louisville sooner than we expected! We are starting to pack (eek!) and the fact that I only have a few weeks left in this city with our friends and Zain hasn’t really sunk in. This past weekend Trevor and I were able to sneak away to Coast for a date night and we were looking back and realizing Chicago has been home for our entire marriage, it’s where we gave birth to our baby boy and really become the people we are. We are so excited about the move but I’m not sure when it will really hit us!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week and cheers to this next chapter and home ownership!
Congrats! Old homes are the best!

Congrats, moving is tough, I know. We moved into our house 3 weeks before I gave birth. Not fun times, but we got through it and you will too. Good luck on your move!
Thank you!!! Oh my gosh, that does not sound like fun haha.
