On what we thought was our last day of vacation in LA I woke up at 6am to an email from Southwest saying our flight was cancelled and to re book online. Problem was nothing was available the same day and after calling in I was told everything heading to Chicago that day had been cancelled and I would have to re book for the next day. We eventually got re booked on a flight Monday afternoon with a stop and resolved to make the most of the situation. After getting our accommodations situated we headed out to Runyon Canyon which was was beautiful but not nearly as secluded as I thought it would be. After being deathly terrified of Zika Virus by Trevor and my mother I slathered on bug spray and quickly realized I was definitely still in LA and there was no bugs and hundreds of people chatting on their cell phones and hanging out. I’m happy to report I was not bit by a single bug but seriously enjoyed getting out and exercising and the view from the top was pretty spectacular. It’s so beautiful to see all the houses on the hills and I wouldn’t mind staying in one of those with a giant pool next time (anybody?)
After our hike we headed back to shower and change and headed over to the arts district to grab some Mexican food. I was so excited to throw on this kimono maxi! There was a new museum opening so the area was packed with people and we stopped in Cerveteca DTLA to grab some beers and chips & guacamole! We both tried both the salmon and chicken tacos and although I was a bit weary of the salmon taco when I ordered, it was delicious. After that we wandered around the ares and swung in a few coffee shops and boutiques exploring.
I wore this breezy kimono maxi which will I’ll be wearing all summer for sure. It has so many cute details like the tie up front, center slit, and open back with little buttons I loved. Sometimes the details on a piece make it so unusual and pretty to me and this kimono maxi is definitely one of them. It does run on the longer side though and I couldn’t get away with wearing this with flats unless I held my dress all day. I do love that it works with heels because it’s usually so hard for me to find maxi’s that are long enough so if that is your issue too I would grab this. It definitely runs true to size and has plenty of breathing room.
It also made me feel confident about my recent Chloe bag purchase since I was able to pack only one bag to take to LA and it literally went with everything I wore flawlessly no matter the pattern or colors. Hope you are all surviving the week & make sure to follow along on Instagram and Snapchat (username: lowstoluxe) this weekend as I head to Dallas, TX for the Reward Style Conference! I’m so excited to be traveling with my friends Blair & Kelly and since it’s Blair’s hometown I can’t wait to explore with her & finally meet her family. The 80 degree weather is looking really great already…
Haha, yeah Runyon isn’t nearly as.. canyon like as they make it sounds, but the views definitely are gorgeous from the top!
Right? I was expecting the gorge and that it is definitely not!
You look so cute! I love this red floral dress! It sounds like you had a great trip in LA and made the most of your extra day! Hope you are doing well! 🙂
