Happy Monday y’all! Now that we’re back from Kentucky I’m trying to get unpacked and back into the swing of things. Being gone for a week seems like an eternity these days and I’m excited to get back to our normal routine. We had the best time visiting family and celebrating a friend’s wedding this past weekend and I will be sure to share some of it later next week. Sadly, Trevor is on call this week and weekend so this week back may be a bit rough.

Today’s post is another one from Portland! We spent the beginning of our Sunday walking around NW 22nd Street. I highly reccomend the area if you visit – it had everything from shops to home decor stores and some yummy food. We started off at Elephant’s Delicatessen which we later found out was famous in Portland. The food was delicious and if I could go back I would have gotten the fried chicken sandwich. I didn’t expect much when I took a bite of Trevor’s but oh my heavens.

After linch, we wandered the area and popped in and out of stores and indulged just a little bit. We stopped into Blue Star Donuts and tried the Raspberry cake donut and some Stumptown cold brew. I had passed by Blue Star when I was in venice last year and we didn’t stop in because the line was so long. I am somewhat of a donut connoisseur and to be honest, wasn’t super impressed with these. Chicago donut shops are pretty amazing so that may be part of the problem.

After stuffing ourselves we headed downtown and spent about 4 hours in Powell’s bookstore. I loved reading the ‘Staff Picks’ all over the store and why they loved them and perusing the kids section. We spent a while picking out books for my nieces and nephew and Zain, reading each one. We’ve quickly learned not to buy books we don’t want to read since we’ll be forced to read them over and over again.

After checking out we met Kelly, Mitch, Emma and Kelly’s parents in their coffee shop. It was so fun to hang out with them and we just chatted for a few hours. Once we got thirsty we wandered down to a wine bar Kelly’s dad ad found and enjoyed wine flights! Kelly’s parents are seriously the best and I felt like I was hanging with my own. It was so fun to spend time with them and after that full day we decided to call it a night. We went back to our Air bnb and ordered pizza and watched Narcos in bed. Such an amazing day!

On a fashion note, I stayed in this outfit all day and night. The pieces are some of my travel go to’s and I just snagged this top in stripe and black! It’s so affordable and comfortable and perfect for fall.

Hope you all have an amazing day and enjoy this fall weather!

  1. Such a great fall outfit! I love peplum and stripes, and I’m liking the hem of those jeans. It’s always those little details that take it from a “jeans and t-shirt” outfit to something a little more special. Also, I love that you consider yourself a donut connoisseur! I’ve been gluten free for a few years now, but there are two donut shops in West Michigan I can’t pass up. If someone brings a box to work, I’m toast because I have to have one!
