Dress: Rachel Zoe (c/o) | Shoes: Steve Madden | Clutch: Nordstrom| Lips: NARS
Best thing about the long weekend? A short week! I just don’t know why work is still such a struggle. Did you guys do anything fun over the weekend?
I’m excited to dress up a little bit on the blog today – summer wedding invitations are starting to roll in and summer weddings can be such a challenge to dress for. You want something airy, breathable but fun and I thought this Rachel Zoe dress fit the bill perfectly.
Besides weddings it’s such a treat to plan something fancy for you and your partner or group of friends. Lately, I feel like anything can be a good excuse to get dressed up and feel good about yourself. I am normally a more casual laid back kind of girl but last week I decided to throw on some red lipstick and a cute dress to meet my girlfriends in the West Loop and it gave me the pick me up I needed after feeling frumpy all week. I thought I would share a few of my hopes for this summer with for date nights with Trevor. Trust me, I know 3 is going to be a struggle since he hates dancing but I can keeping my fingers crossed and maybe talk my girlfriend into it!
Plan a fancy dinner: Why don’t we do this enough? For some reason we always feel like when it’s just the two of us we shouldn’t do anything super fancy but lately I’ve been feeling like we deserve a nice romantic dinner every now and then. My parents gave us a a gift card to Acadia for our anniversary literally a year ago and we have yet to use it. I just made the reservation this week and I am already looking forward to a nice glass of wine and amazing food with Trevor. Have you been? If so, send menu recommendations please!
Theater Date: We haven’t been to the Chicago Theater since we saw Book of Mormon last year. It was one of the most fun dates and I need to do a better job of keeping my eye on the schedule. It goes the same for concerts that come to town – I just downloaded an app that alerts me when bands I’ve flagged come to Chicago so I’m hoping I can snag tickets to something fun this summer.
Try a Salsa Class: My dream date! If you know me you know I love to dance. Trevor is not the biggest fan but I think it’s more because he thinks he can’t dance. I think if we took a lesson he would change his mind so hopefully we can make it happen before the summer is over.
Don’t you guys think this dress would be perfect for salsa? It’s a bit of a ‘mini’ dress so I ordered a size up to have more room and I loved the silk bow in the back. It makes it interesting but make sure you tie that knot really tight. Since it’s on the shorter size I paired it with a simple strap heel ( PS if you happen to be on the hunt for a staple black heel these have lasted me 4 seasons and are currently on sale!)
What fun summer plans do you guys have? Anything you are itching to wear?
SHAHEEN! I adore this dress. It’s absolutely gorgeous. May need to get it for August! The bow in the back?! I just can’t. Looking beautiful!
