I’m excited poncho season is back and am swooning over this plaid poncho from Old Navy. despite enjoying to dress up for parties and events a laid back look is way more my scene. I love ponchos but it’s a always fine line for me between looking like I have a random blanket thrown on me and looking put together.
I like how this poncho has sleeve holes so you aren’t figuring out dimensions on your own and belting it gives the look some shape but still be allows you to breath. When dressing with poncho’s I would keep your jeans or pants more tailored. I love a boyfriend jean but it can look a bit too frumpy with something so non structured up top. I was debating on a stripe turtleneck with this look because i think you could have so much fun with pattern mixing and the shade is perfect for the holidays.
Despite what you see on pretty instagram accounts and blogs life isn’t all glamour and perfection and it’s great to remember that. It may be that my everyday wardrobe of glasses, scrubs and tennis shoes is so blah I enjoy getting dressed more than others but also appreciate the lack of effort I put in during the week. It’s a great reminder to get dressed when you feel like it and that it’s okay to not always look ‘on’ and eat chocolate while in yoga pants on the couch with Netflix. We all need that right?
I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend it definitely cooled down in the city but my in laws were in town and the sun was shining! we had to stop by my favorite BBQ spot, Smoque – if you haven’t been and you like BBQ you must. It’s the best I have ever had and that says a lot since I’m from Kentucky. We also got to see Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theater! It’s not a show I would have normally picked out but my father in law was so excited and by then end I was up singing and dancing. It felt great to be at the theater again was a good reminder that this city has so many great things to offer.
Happy Monday & cheers to it warming up this weekend!
