Well, it’s finally here! A little recap of our trip to Las Vegas, how we liked it and all of your recommendations. First off, let me just say thank you for all your suggestions and help. It was so incredibly helpful and we tried to fit it all in.
Overall, we had a great family trip. I last went to Vegas for a Bachlorette party years ago and swore I would never return. The flashy Vegas that’s all about nightclubs is definitely not my scene. However, when my parents invited us to come along with them I decided to give it a go. I knew going with Zain would be an entirely different experience and Trevor had never been.
All in all I thought there were a ton of kid friendly activities and being able to get outside in the sunshine and walk/run around with a toddler is a true gift in the dead of winter. The food was also AMAZING. Trevor and I ate some of the best food of our lives there and were blown away.
We stayed at The Wynn and loved it! We had adjoining rooms with my parents which was really nice. When Zain was napping or going to bed for the night we could still hang out in the other room and leave the connecting doors open. I think hotels can be really hard with kids if they don’t have a separate living/sitting space so I was very thankful they were with us.
I figured I would share a huge list of what we did plus all of your recommendations we didn’t get to for anyone planning a trip or thinking about it! If you have any other questions at all feel free to shoot them my way!
Food
Nobu – This was located in Caesar’s and proved to be the best meal of my life. It’s more of an upscale restaurant and is definitely a splurge. The yellowtail with jalapeño and sushi rolls were impeccable but the off the menu beef tenderloin we had was the best meat I have ever eaten. Trevor and I now refer to things in the currency of that dish. Like “Oh I could have had two beef tenderloins for that…” Take me back!
Lotus of Siam – This was a recommendation from a close friend and was insanely good. It was right up our alley as far as ambiance. Casual, relaxed and family friendly! We ordered so much food and I thought the portions and pricing were a steal. I made these reservations far in advance and I think that is the norm here.
Momofuku – We loved the food in The Cosmopolitan in general! We circled back there several times. They have an Egg Slut (delicious breakfast sandwiches), a juice bar (which was nice when I was craving veggies or a smoothie) and of course Milk.
Bacchanal Buffet – This thing was insane! We went as a family for lunch and I will say if you enjoy buffet’s it’s a must but none of us are huge buffet people so it wasn’t much of a hit. I feel much more satisfied ordering one meal than I do sampling things.
Other recommendations broken down by category…
Restaurants
Mon Ami Gabi – This was a popular recommendation but we have eaten at the one in Chicago so much we didn’t fit it in. However, their patio is so cute and right on the strip so if you are there when it’s warm I think it would be a great lunch spot!
Lago – This has great views of the Bellagio fountains
Sinatra’s – Great Italian
Vetri – Good date night spot
Wicked Spoon Buffet – Great brunch option
Le Thai – This was another popular Thai recommendation!
SLS – Not the greatest location but a good date night. Get the oysters & steak tartar!
Scotch 80 Prime – They just redid the entire property and the restaurant has amazing art everywhere!
Yellowtail – Another amazing sushi spot!
Catch Las Vegas – Another great sushi date night option
China Poblano – The DanDan noodles are great!
Drinks
Beauty & Essex – Got this a lot for cocktails but the food is supposed to be great too!
The Chandelier Bar – Great for pre or after dinner drinks.
Rose Rabbit Lie – They have dancers, cabernet singers and awesome performers!
The Waldorf – Lots of recommendations for high tea here! This was another one we had done in Chicago so didn’t get to.
Ghost Donkey – Get the truffle nachos and the cocktails are great!
Kid friendly
Park MGM – This was a great brand new outdoor space we hung out at! There is an Eataly that opens to the courtyard and we grabbed Shake Shack and let Zain run around!
Container Park – A downtown play area that’s great for kids!
The Mirage – They have a dolphin & lion habitat with Siegfried & Roy’s retired tigers & lions.
The Venetian – Zain loved wandering around here and looking at all the fish tanks.
Children’s Discovery Museum – This was just a short drive from the strip downtown.
Redrock Canyon – This was our plan for one of the day’s but it was much cooler than we had anticipated so we passed. If you go when it’s warmer I would totally add it to your list and we got recommendations to stop in Boca Park at North Italia or Echo & Rig in Tívoli Village for breakfast.
Seven Magic Mountain – Another outdoor recommendation!
Shows
Absinthe – We saw this and LOVED it! It is definitely adult humor so not appropriate for kids but such a great date night!
La Rêve & O – Most popular recommendations if you want to see a classic cirque show!
Love – Lots of votes for The Beatles Show!
