Good morning and happy FRIDAY!
It feels so surreal that Christmas and Christmas Eve are next week since we already visited Trevor’s parents and celebrated. However, we are excited to wake up in our new home this Christmas. If you have kids when did you stop traveling for the holidays and start making your own traditions? I think I am going to search for a good spicy Bloody Mary recipe (if you have a tasty one, send it my way!) to make Christmas morning for us and then cook pancakes with Zain.
This weekend we are keeping it pretty low key and just have an ugly sweater party Saturday night that we are excited about. I have yet to get an ugly sweater so will be searching on Amazon today at some point!
As far as today’s post I thought I would share my current Trader Joe’s buys since they have changed a bit since my last roundup. Trevor and I are really trying to buckle down and eat healthier during the week. We always like to say that we eat ‘healthy’ during the week and indulge only on the weekends but lately that’s not been true. Despite me being able to work out way more than I could in Chicago I still don’t feel great about where I am and I know it’s all nutrition.
So, I am going to do my best to share more easy meals I throw together on Instagram stories and hold myself accountable. I threw out the idea of an accountability group to you all on Instagram and so many of you said you would be interested. Wondering if a DM group would be easier or on my Facebook page? Let me know what you think!
Okay, so on to the goods:
Meats:
Organic Chicken Breasts
Lean Ground Beef
Argentinean Red Shrimp (frozen) – This tastes so much better than any other shrimp I’ve tried!
Dry Goods:
Sriracha Ranch Dressing – I use this sparingly but it’s great and has a good kick!
Corn and Chile Tomato less salsa
Hot and Sweet JalapeƱos
Hot and Spicy Dill Pickle Chips
Black Beans
Whole Kernel Corn – This is the best canned corn I have ever had. The last time I was in the store and picked it up another lady stopped me to chat about how much she liked it too ha!
Sweet Potatoes – I roast or steam these and veggies all week.
Broccoli
Ready to Eat Beets – A great snack or yummy on a salad!
Marinara Sauce – Great pasta base when you are short on time.
Petite Diced Tomatoes with no salt added – Use in tacos, pasta and everything else under the sun.
Apples
Bananas
Hard Cooked Peeled Eggs – I know you can do this yourself at home but for me these are worth the ease of just pulling out and eating or throwing on salads.
Spicy Hummus
Whole wheat tortillas
Green Dragon Sauce – we put this on everything!
Frozen:
Cauliflower Stir Fry
Chicken Fried Rice
Low Fat Chicken Stir Fry – I add a whole container of stir fry veggies and a package of chicken breasts chopped to this to make enough for leftovers. It has too many noodles and not enough of the good stuff on it’s own.
Organic Quinoa – Having this on hand to just throw in the microwave is a lifesaver when making bowls.
Cauliflower Gnocchi – Haven’t tried the sweet potato version yet but if you have let me know! I do not make this according to the package and have my way saved to my ‘Eats’ highlight on Instagram.
Salads:
Cobb Salad – More for Trevor than me!
Field Greens Salad with Chicken – My all time favorite! The Israeli couscous is so so good.
I grab things off and on from TJ’s for Zain but this post covers more of what he eats! Hope you all have an amazing Friday and a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate! See you back here Wednesday!
I buy so much of the same items from TJ’s! The Argentinian Shrimp is the best frozen shrimp that has ever existed. Lately I’ve been buying soups from TJ’s. They have a yummy Miso soup in a cup that’s only $2 and 200 calories. Such a great quick lunch in a pinch just add a handful of spinach.

Oh that’s amazing and I am going to look for that next time I go, thank you!!!
