I know it’s been a little while since we moved and despite getting unpacked quickly decorating has taken a bit longer. I was so eager to get all our boxes unpacked but then so unmotivated to hang anything, anyone else?

Our place is still coming together slowly but surely but I am so excited to share some bedroom progress with you guys! When we found out we were moving I really wanted to rethink our bedroom style. I loved the bright artwork and pillows we had before but decided to go back to a more neutral palette. I ended up brightening up some other spaces in our new place with pieces like this rug (I’m obsessed!) so thought a more classic color palette would bring some serenity to our bedroom.

The first decision was what artwork & rug? We hadn’t had a rug under our bed in our last home and I really wanted that extra layer. I have to say it’s a game changer in feeling ‘at home’ and I love the extra design element. I was overwhelmed at first while browsing Wayfair because there are so many cool patterns but I shared some of my favorites below in case you are on the hunt! Since the rug had a bit of color I kept the artwork black and white and combined things we really love. Sometimes I like using prints that have no connection to us but for our bedroom I loved combining our cultures and memories through them. This Presence print from Minted immediately put me at ease and reminded me of Kentucky while the Taj Mahal print obviously reminded me of my family. I wish I could make it back to India again and take Tevor with me this time – it’s been so long!

I’m not a huge fan of thick wooden frames so I was ecstatic when I saw Minted introduced these new metal frames. At first I thought I would get bronze to match the lamps but I have found I like a more mixed feel. I liked how the silver was matte and and added a cool contrast to our bronze accents.

I kept our bed frame and bedding from our last place because I haven’t found anything more comfortable plus our bronze pendant lamps! These lamps are so affordable and one of my favorite purchases for our bedroom. As I write this I am already itching to change it up, anyone else do that?
