Merit Beauty Review & 5 Minute Makeup

Jul 25, 2022

Good morning!

How is everyone? We are back from Asheville and I am trying to return to the real world 😉 I have so much to share from our trip that I will try to save to an Instagram highlight but it was an amazing trip. We were able to sneak away alone for a few days and it was so invigorating and we already want to plan a trip back with the kids.

I wanted to expand on this morning’s Reel here and share some more thoughts about the Merit products I ordered. If you are new to the brand, I originally discovered them through targeted Instagram ads and then a few a of my friends like Jess & Anna had tried the brand and loved their products. I finally took the plunge and ordered the ‘Skin Set’ since it offered a bit of a discount and included the products I really wanted to try: face stick, blush, and brush. In general, I am so happy with what I bought! The purchase forced me to clean out my makeup drawer and hold on to just the things I use on a regular basis.

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen

You all know I use this everyday either in the Unseen or Glow Screen form if I need some added color. Since I was using the complexion stick, I went with Unseen! It’s light, not oily, and leaves no residue which I love.

Versed Sunday Morning Oil

If you have followed here for a while you know I love adding a drop or two of face oil in the morning for a natural glow. I’ve been loving all things Versed and this did not disappoint! Does not leave you feeling greasy and basically ‘wakes up’ my skin.

Merit Complexion Stick

Shade: Khaki

I know this is sold out in most shades which is a tragedy but check back often because I was able to snag the shade I needed pretty quickly. I love this thing! If you know me, you know I don’t ever wear foundation and hate the feeling of a thick matte on my face but this is light and airy and basically feels like a CC cream. You can build the intensity if you are looking for heavier coverage which is great but it doesn’t get oily or wear all day.

Merit Blending Brush

Okay, I won’t lie watching people use this brush is what made me finally purchase. I’ve been using the same brush for years and thought this looked like it blended perfectly. I was correct! I love using this thing, it’s so soft and works so incredibly well. I now only own about 3 brushes so it will help you minimize as well!

Merit Flush Balm

Shade: Cheeky

Another highlight of my purchase! I love the shape of this which makes applying it so easy and the sheen is perfect. Subtle but gorgeous and mine lasts all day.

Merit Highlighter

Shade: Bounce

I will admit, I am not generally a highlighter kind of girl. Mainly because i know how to use the bare minimum when it comes to makeup but this is beautiful. I’ve been using it on my cheekbones where it adds the prettiest glow! If you are a highlighter user I think you’ll be happy with this but if I was buying individually I personally may have skipped it.

Ilia Mascara

I feel like people either loved or hated this but I’m a fan! I’ve been using it for almost a year and think it’s the best clean mascara I’ve tried. Adds a ton of volume and doesn’t bleed on me.

Benefit Gimme Brow

My OG favorite that always fills in and adds volume naturally. Hot tip: never use black! I feel like it looks a bit too harsh so even though I have jet black hair I use the dark brown shade and feel it looks more natural.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip

My go to everyday! Adds a tiny bit of tint while moisturizing and not feeling heavy. I always have it on me these days.

Hope that covers it and if you have any questions just send me a message!
