It’s not often Trevor and I get an afternoon to ourselves with his crazy work schedule, so I have been trying to take full advantage recently. Last weekend it was sunny, 65 degrees and near perfection in Chicago so we knew we needed to get out and enjoy the day. We rarely make it downtown since there is so much to do in our neighborhood, so we decided to head downtown to enjoy some time on the water and in the amphitheater. Day dates exploring the city are our favorite and always Better in Pairs!

We have lived in the city for so long that it’s sometimes easy to forget how lucky we are and not take advantage of it. There is so much to do and so many beautiful spots to spend time in all over the city! After walking around the park and enjoying some live music at the amphitheater, we headed to Cindy’s for a bite to eat. If you haven’t been, you may have seen all the pictures of The Bean from their perfect patio. It’s located right across from Millenium Park and has some of the best brunch and cocktails I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any new cocktails this time, but soon enough! We really enjoyed some down time together and are starting to realize in just a few short months how different our lives will be, in an amazing way. I hope we will always remember to spend this alone time together, no matter how hard it is!

Since our weekends are dominated by casual attire, the new Hush Puppies spring line has us beyond excited. I am a huge fan of the brand and it’s casual comfort – I wear these black slides constantly as I’m sure you’ve seen! The new line has so many fun colors and patterns and I was excited to get my hands on these Sayer Malia mules. I love how the colors are muted and can mix well with so many looks or even a chic all black outfit like this one. I threw on my faux leather jacket since I tend to be cold when it’s anything but 90 degrees, luckily I didn’t really need it!

Trevor decided on a classic pair of loafers and I loved how the laces added a bit of color and edge. They actually come with two options, this darker beet color and a deep brown color that blends a little more. He often wear loafers or sneakers on the weekends so these Glitch Parkview oxfords were the perfect way to spruce up his wardrobe before Spring. They ran a tiny bit small so he sized up, which I would reccomend if snagging these for your man!

After our day date, we headed back to Wicker Park to meet friends for dinner on the patio and I was happy our feet stayed comfy, since we were on them all day! Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and can we all agree we need more Trevor on the blog?

Really enjoy the couple time now. I honestly think missing the time to just be with my hubby has been the biggest surprise. Growing families are amazing and so full of love but as a couple who used to do a lot of cocktails and nice dinners there was certainly a big change in our weekend nights with Baby H 🙂

  7. I’m glad you got to enjoy your day date! I know completely how it is being busy and not having enough time. I love your outfit too!
