How To Find Your Perfect Jeans

Jeans are the most worn item of clothing in my closet but it can be such a challenge to find that perfect fit, right? I used to own tons of jeans in all different shapes and styles but as I have gotten older and drastically minimized my wardrobe I have stuck to a few staples. My wardrobe is less about quantity and more about staple pieces. Being a blogger allows for fun pieces to feature every now and then but my life is made up of classics I can re wear over and over again and for more than one season.

I was also always confused by what style of jean I should be wearing. Really, you should be wearing whatever makes you feel best so any guidelines for body shapes and flattering fit don’t really matter to me if I don’t feel good in them. As a general rule, I prefer a good pair of skinny jeans. I am curvier on the bottom and loathe the feeling of a waist that gets too low in the back when I sit down. I also like a stretchy tighter material that keeps everything held in and these Rockstar jeans form Old Navy are perfection. They have a tiny bit of distress to them but I generally like to add a little more by using the sharp side of scissors to fray them a bit more. Just make sure to keep in mind that they will continue to open as you wear them again and again so don’t start off too big.

I also love the flare and boyfriend. I think flares look good on all body types because they elongate your legs. I recommend getting a pair that is long enough for the hem to touch the ground when you have your heels or shoes on. I think when the hem hits a little too high it can do the opposite and make you look shorter instead of longer. Boyfriends are all also a fit I like to keep on hand. Since I’m curvy I usually try to pair them with a girly top like this peplum tank and either loafers for casual wear or a fun pair of heels for a night out.

I wore this monochromatic black and white look last week for happy hour with Trevor. Since the weather has been nicer and Trevor is finishing up with work we have been trying to take advantage of the patio weather. We finally made it over to Lost Lake in Logan Square and all I could think was why hadn’t we been there sooner? It is the cutest tiki bar and the drinks were not all sweet like I was worried about.

I was happy I opted for flats since we ended up walking around the neighborhood a bit and I love these new espadrilles! They are comfortable enough to keep on all day and didn’t need any breaking in for me.

What kind of jeans are you drawn to? Do you feel like you hold onto styles you have outgrown or do a good job purging?
