I thought I would pop on and share some family pictures from Mother’s Day a few weeks ago because I really can’t get over Trevor and Zain in their matching coats. It happened to be a little chilly that Sunday and since Trevor was on call we decided to do a early brunch at City Mouse in the West Loop. 

It was our first time there and I loved wandering around the Ace Hotel. I hadn’t been yet but it is absolutely stunning and not very crowded. When you find a good restaurant that isn’t super busy and has a great atmosphere in Chicago I feel like you won the jackpot. They have a really nice outdoor patio area with fire pits that would be perfect for dinner or even lunch on a little warmer day.

I started off with the bloody mary and if you are a fan of spicier ones like me I can’t reccomend this enough. For lunch we ordered the chocolate and strawberry cronut, grain salad and Trevor got the burger and fries. Everything was super delicious and we will definitely be going back. 

After brunch we headed over to Lincoln Park and took Zain on a little walk with a pit stop at my favorite bakeries, Sweet Mandy Bs’s. I often dream of their iced sugar cookies and since it was my first Mother’s Day I devoured one. 

It was so nice to spend a quiet Sunday together and luckily Trevor never got called in. I just recently got this Everlane trench but it really is perfect for these in between days. tIt’s way too warm for a heavy coat but I get tired of wearing my long cardigans everyday. I feel like a trench is a great way to dress up a look while still being comfortable and polished. I think this one runs on the bigger side (I feel like I could have gone with an XS) but the color and detailing is perfection. I paired it with my usual staples and always go back to this combo.
