My evening skincare routine has become somewhat of a luxury these days. After we give Zain a bath and put him to bed I jump in the shower and spend some time on my skin after. Anti aging products have been on my mind for a while now. I started researching and trying new products when I was about 25 and always on the lookout for new finds.
Now that I’m 32, sleep deprived and short on time my routine has become even more sacred. Although I may eventually change my mind, I don’t want to use Botox or any other treatment of that type. To be honest, even the peels scare me. I’m hoping by investing in great products now I will save my skin in the long run and also be okay with the natural aging process. Hopefully it’s not way easier said than done.
I’ve been trying out a ton of new products lately and thought I would share some of my favorites with you guys and the rotation I normally go through.
Cleanse
I used to always skip washing my face before bed. I would get home from work or late on the weekends and would always think it would wake me up. Now, it honestly does the opposite. I can’t lay on my pillow without washing my face and it soothes me before sleeping. You can alternate nights using an exfoliating brush if you like yours and try to keep one to two washes in rotation. I’m currently loving Tula’s Cleanser and Derma E’s charcoal face wash. They both leave my skin feeling moisturized and clean.
Mask It
I’ve shared my repertoire of masks on Instagram many times but I love switching them up. It’s a great way to get that dirt and grime out that’s built up deep and there are so many affordable options. I use jar masks a lot and love a good sheet mask for when you’re short on time. There is usually a mask for every type of skin tone and I’m currently loving my Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask and this affordable Aveeno one.
Serum Time
My favorite part of the routine! These serums are where I see most change in my skin. If I skip this step a night or two, I can definitely notice a change. I have been alternating between Juice Beauty Anti Aging Serum and Derma-E Hydrating Serum. Both brands are ‘clean’ and some of my favorites!
Eye Cream
I know I’ve talked about how self conscious I am about my under eye’s before and I’ve only become more aware of them as I’ve gotten older. The dark circles are darker (thanks Zain boo) and I’ve feel like they’ve become more noticeable. I have been testing tons of eye creams and am loving the Derma-E one. Friends have been raving about the Dr.Brandt one too so I’m hoping to try that soon!
What products do you guys swear by? If you happen to live in Chicago and are interested in clean beauty make sure to check out the new store in Bucktown, Credo. They only sell clean beauty products and offer in store treatments. I’m really hoping to swing in for a facial soon!
Since getting pregnant I’ve become even less of a morning person, so I’ve been showering at night. It feels so good to go to sleep with a clean face! I’ve tried to be better about using my favorite face masks lately too. Shea Moisture and Yes To are some of my favorites that trend toward natural when it comes to the ingredient list. I love that you have a clean beauty store nearby! Drugstores are getting better about creating natural beauty sections, and it makes it so much easier to find things!
Yes! Showering in the evening since I really can’t in the morning anymore feels amazing. I agree – it’s much more transparent which is nice!
