I’m lucky enough to call my mom my best friend and as corny as that seems, she really is. As I’ve grown older I’ve realized to not take that for granted and really show my mom how much I appreciate her when I can. With Kentucky being so close and my brother and nieces and nephew being here I see my parents all the time. However, the last time my mom and I spent a good amount of time by ourselves was probably when we took a trip to India to shop for my wedding.
It’s been more than 5 years since that journey and this past weekend I was lucky enough to get to spend some quality time with my mom going on walks, catching movies (the new Bourne movie is so good!) and just relaxing. I never realized how much we dressed and looked alike but everyday I think a new person would comment on it and we would laugh. Once you get married and so many new people are brought into the smaller circle you once had it’s easy to forget about those individual bonds. I love when my whole family is together and really treasure those moments but it was so nice to have one on one time with my mom and really relax together.
She hates being in pictures so you can imagine how much of a struggle it was to get her to take any photos with me! On Saturday we enjoyed a delicious Indian thali lunch until we couldn’t stuff anything else in our stomachs and walked around shopping together. I wore this new head to toe look from Ann Taylor and it was the perfect combo for a hot day. I have already posted these flats on Instagram a million times because I can’t get over the style and fit. I love that this skirt is a bit longer and has pockets!!! Plus, this tank is a bit thicker which will make it perfect to transition into fall and winter for layering.
The weekend was such a great reminder to spend that extra time with those special people in your life no matter who they may be because I think we all take time for granted. Our lives get so wrapped up in the little day to day stresses we forget to look at the big picture – at least I know I do!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week and staying cool!
