Has anyone else reached the point in quarantine where they are moving things around their house to get a new view? I am. In the last few weeks I decided to finally tackle our master bedroom and finish a few corners of the house that I just never got to.
I am not someone who decorates all at once and needs a nice break in between. Sometimes when I’m picking decor for too long it gets paralyzing and I like seeing how a few pieces come together before choosing the next. It’s probably why the bedroom is still unfinished. When we moved in, we had pieces from our last bedroom to fill the space. It wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned but worked so I wasn’t in a rush.
A few months ago, I finally decided on a new bed and snagged it. Let me just tell you, I love it! I heard from a lot of people who had issues with their canopy bed making noise or creaking and we haven’t had any issues with this. Do note, it is delivered in 3 pieces and the headboard and footboard are custom made and need to fit into your room as is. I had a brief moment of panic when it arrived and was not totally certain we could get it up our stairs. Trevor and I initially left it on our landing for a break and came back and luckily found a way to make it work.
Now, that the bed has settled in and I have our light fixture and full length mirror situated it was time to make some more decisions. I purchased this new rug which just arrived and this sofa bench for the end of the bed. I also cleared the old mirror off the fireplace mantle and moved it to the upstairs guest bedroom and purchased this one for a more clean and simple look.
Since I moved our Holly Addi print down to the entryway, I am om the hunt for a great piece of art for over our bed and will likely go with something a bit more neutral. I also decided on these oversized mat frames for the wall between Trevor’s closets and am printing two black and white photos of the kids to put in them.
Once everything is hung and arrived, I will be able to see how it’s coming together and finish up the room. We still need a dresser (I’m struggling with what color I want!), nightstands, lamps and a few other small pieces that I’m sure will take some time for me to find.
Another little area I updated was this front entryway! I started out with just a few pieces here because I didn’t want it to feel cluttered and have added pieces slowly. I finally think I am at the perfect place and so happy with how it feels!

Same thing with the fireplace mantle in the formal living room! I started with just a few simple pieces and still think I need a small pieces of artwork to layer on the mirror but am happy with how it’s come together!
