Remember how easy it is to get dressed during the summer? The Chicago winter has a way of blocking my happy summer memories but a few weeks ago when we were packing for Arizona I remembered how lovely and convenient it is. This look is my staple summer go to and I will usually be caught alternating between some version of this or an easy cotton dress.
Now that I’m 8 months pregnant, finding shorts seemed to be no easier than it was before. I know I’ve talked about this before but finding the perfect pair of summer shorts is no easy task for me as I can imagine it is for most women. I despise the feeling of tight shorts and love a distressed casual look. I can’t believe I thought that was hard to find something pre pregnancy, because the selection of maternity shorts available is seriously lacking!
Almost everything I came across appeared very ‘mom’ like. Not that there is anything wrong with that but a longer shorts with cuffed edges does nothing for my body shape. I was so excited to find this white pair on ASOS before we headed to Arizona and have been stalking the site for these to come back in stock so I can grab them for the summer and post baby. The belly band is so stretchy and I love the way the fraying looks.
I decided to pair them with an easy stripe peplum top and these fringe flats I picked up at Marshalls. If you have one by you, definitely stop in and see if you can snag them. I’ve seen several other girls pick them up all across the country so I think they should be available most places.
Favorite Peplum Tops:
Since we spent this morning in downtown Phoenix exploring the shops, eateries and wall art I wanted to make sure I brought my camera along. Now that I’ve upgraded to the Canon 6D it’s a bit more difficult to just throw in any purse. This Lo and Sons camera bag is not only pretty to look at but does a great job keeping my camera safe and fitting my wallet and keys.
We wandered around downtown stopping in the Phoenix Public Market for breakfast, checking out all the new artwork popping up downtown and grabbing a doughnut at Rollover Doughnuts. It’s an adorable spot that actually connects to Short Leash Hotdogs. If you know me, you know hot dogs and doughnuts are two of my favorite indulgences so this spot seemed like it was made for me. I was entirely too full to try a dog but the sprinkle doughnut was to die for and the cake is made from their homemade mixture. If you get a chance to stop in, do it!
What are your go to’s for a hot summer day?
Loving the stripes. I never miss an opportunity to deck myself out!
Right? Me too!
Such a perfect look for summer! I love that top on you- looks great with your belly. Those fringe sandals are so fun!
Oh thank you, it was such a great find! Happy Monday lady!
