Last week on Instagram I posted a photo about how important it was to have a little ‘me’ time every now and then. I was happy to see the response I got and that more women are taking it upon themselves to do so. I have to admit, I’m not great at it. My baseline stress level is high because sure I have lots of things to do but I’m also not great at balancing my anxiety and often work myself up about the little things in life most people just brush off.
It was such an admirable quality in Trevor when I met him. I remember looking at him and thinking ‘ahhh, I wonder what that’s like’ To be carefree and not always worried about something. Although I’m getting better at it as I’ve gotten older I have also learned how important it is to make that ‘me’ time a reality. Little things can make such a big difference and I thought I would share some goals for myself for this next month to unwind!
No Tech Night: Plug in the phone! This one is a no brainer but is such a reward for someone. Whether you live alone or with someone decide to put away all electronics for one night of the week. No TV, cell phones or computers and enjoy life. Unplugging and allowing yourself to relax and really unwind can be so freeing.
Read a book: Check back tomorrow for my summer reading list but I have already ordered a few on there and started to read before bed instead of spending mindless time on my phone and social media.
Take a bath & mask: I know I have talked a lot of about skin care around here lately but it makes me feel great. Put on a mask, do a scrub or take bath – actually, do them all. It’s an at home spa night you deserve.
Get a Pedicure: It’s summer so we all need one but treating yourself to a pedicure after work can be one of the most enjoyable things. You can kick back with magazines and a warm soak and relax a little.
What do you guys do to treat yourselves?
Such a gorg look on you, lady! Happy Wednesday!
Thanks Jenn, you too!
I love all of the ideas above and also getting out for a walk! There’s something about getting outside that always clears my mind.
Agreed – such a good one! I used to do that often with a friend before she moved and I need to find a new walking buddy in my neighborhood. It’s so nice in the evenings!
I’m the same. When I try to relax, I think about all the things I could be accomplishing. But I’m trying SO HARD to get better about this, and relax guilt-free. Loved this post, Shaheen!

Agreed, I feel like it shouldn’t be so hard! I hope you are pampering yourself this week 🙂
