I’m not going to lie, picking a dress for my baby shower was no easy feat. I was lucky that Rent the Runway asked me to come in to try on some options while taking over their Instagram handle because I may have been lost without them. 

Although they don’t carry ‘maternity’ clothes, they have a great ‘bump friendly’ section and my stylist did such a great job pulling different options. Every pregnant woman’s body is different just like every women’s body and so far the traditional maternity items have not looked good on me. Anything patterned with loose construction makes me feel frumpy so I have been sticking with fitted silhouettes. 

I was really torn between this dress and this color block option. I loved not only the stretch in both but how thick the fabric was. It really helps keep you pulled in and secure, which was my number one priority. I finally decided on this one so I didn’t have to worry about pulling at the straps on the other all afternoon and ended up falling in love with the color. I decided to dress it up with some turquoise drop earrings and my cork heels since it turned out to be a bit colder than we had thought. Why it’s 70° on a Wednesday and 35° on Sunday I’m still not sure…

I loved the way the look ended up coming together and highly recommend this dress for pregnant and non pregnant people. It would be great for a wedding or cocktail party and for reference I ordered two sizes up from my usual size to accommodate for the bump. I think the brand runs a little small to begin with!
