With the upcoming holiday, I’m definitely someone who firmly believes stretchy pants are a must! Having said that, I’m not a huge fan of some of the unhealthier traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Not necessarily because of the calorie count but more because of general flavor. Growing up in an Indian household, we often had a feast of Indian dishes with a few Thanksgiving items thrown in.
Now, I love creating dishes from both cultures and have tried to sneak in healthier options that everyone seems to enjoy. Adding a salad into the mix is always refreshing and I found a few healthier sides everyone seems to like. Quinoa is such a yummy way to add protein and substance to salads making even non leafy lovers happy.
I also listed some of my favorite roasted veggie options! Roasted vegetables can be prepared ahead of time making it a super easy option and takes little to no preparation time. I’ve also found desserts to be an easy way to sneak healthy substitutes in. Mini pumpkin pies and berry crumbles are great options and taste amazing!
Since we are headed to my moms this year I will be helping out in the kitchen and am excited to whip up a few of these. My family is not necessarily into ‘healthy food’ (that’s an understatement!) but with these options it’s usually pretty easy to sneak them in without anyone noticing!
