One of my favorite things to eat and drink during pregnancy has been fruit! I know I mentioned how I thought that was just something annoying super healthy people would say but the craving is real. During my first trimester I couldn’t get enough pineapple to save my life and I always have to keep OJ on hand these days.
Since fruit contains a lot of sugar, I have been trying to balance out my cravings with some new smoothie creations. They are perfect on the go for work or as a snack when I’m home and not super hungry. I try to get a green smoothie in a couple times a week and have found a few combinations that have really hit the spot.
The smoothie is a great source of potassium, folic acid, calcium, fiber, iron, protein and magnesium which are all great for that growing baby. You can always mix in different fruits to your liking and something I like to switch out sometimes is the milk for coconut water. I would reccomend making sure all your produce is washed really well and that some components are frozen so you get that creamy smoothie texture. If you prefer a juice texture, feel free to leave everything room temperature and try the coconut water!
This blender is what I currently use and love that the cups just attach on and you don’t have to worry about clean up. I also love these reusable straws that I can just throw in the dishwasher or rinse off. The paper straws are so cute but get soggy after a few minutes and are not pleasant at all!
This smoothie is great for anyone, pregnant or not so let me know how you like it and happy snack time!
