Basics. I’ve really come to love them.
Over the years, my style has definitely changed. Can anyone believe I used to be preppy and wear polo’s and ruffled tank tops from J.Crew? It’s not that I don’t love those styles, I mean how cute is Kelly? It just isn’t my style anymore. I tend to gravitate to more neutral shades these days and have really come to appreciate an elevated basic. Pieces that are classic but made well and can mesh with almost anything in my closet.
With this change, I have come to appreciate new brands and Everlane is definitely one of them. I know I have chatted about the brand before but I initially became obsessed with their pieces when I spotted these loafers on my friend Blair. Their collections are always filled with beautiful pieces that are made well and so classic. Since grabbing that first pair of loafers the obsession has blossomed. Their silk tanks are some of my most worn items, I continue to wear their shoes (how amazing are these flats?) and this new silk dress just found a home in my closet along with the white version.
It has been the best dress for post baby—loose in all the right places but ultra flattering. It’s easy to throw on with flats or dress up with a block heel and a statement earring. The silk fabric is incredibly soft and surprisingly down’t stain easily. I threw it on while I was in Louisville to meet my girlfriends for a night out. My parents were kind enough to stay home with Zain after I put him to sleep and I snuck away to a new spot in Louisville called Fork and Barrel.
I love that every time I make a trip home, there are new amazing restaurants to try. Louisville’s food scene is expanding rapidly and the city grows so much every time I’m away, it’s mind blowing. We tried tons of things on the menu and the scallops were probably my favorite. Well, that and the giant glass of red wine I had.
I’ll be sharing more on my trip home and our first time away from Trevor soon. Spoiler alert: it was WAY harder than Trevor or I thought it may be. Hope you are all having a great week!
