I was excited to team up with El Yucateco to create a recipe for one of my favorite dishes, hot wings! Now that summer is around the corner (hopefully!) we find ourselves grilling out all the time. Hot wings are so much healthier when grilled or baked in the oven and you can easily do both with this recipe.

If you have never made wings before a few things: you can leave the skin on or off but I prefer the crunchy texture of the skin on. also, if you have never cut your own wings it’s so simple i just usually feel where the wing and drumstick separate and slice there. make sure you are never cutting through bone and i toss the extra piece but some keep it to cook broth’s or stock. You can always reference You Tube before for easy to learn videos or just have your butcher cut them for you!

I really wanted to highlight the El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce for this glaze so I combined it with a bit of honey and lime to season stove top. After that you can coat the wings and either toss them on the grill or bake them in the oven! These wings are so delicious you need no dipping sauce but a side of ranch may cool them down a bit for those who like a milder flavor.

The hot sauce has a bit more kick than most (we all know how I like things spicy) but doesn’t have any vinegar hint which is why I use it with our Bloody Mary’s too! You can always substitute the Red Habanero with the Green Habanero for a milder flavor or the XXX for even more of a kick.

I served the wings for family to celebrate Trevor & I staying in Chicago! I made a delicious watermelon agua fresca to drink and served some chips and salsa on the side. Let me know how you like the flavors and you can always find all three sauces: El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce, El Yucateco Green Habanero Sauce, and the El Yucateco XXX Sauce at your local Walmart, Lowes, or Publix!

Ingredients:

18 Chicken Wings (skin on or off)

1/2 cup El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce

1 tbsp Honey

2 cloves garlic

2 tbsp butter

2 limes (squeezed)

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Sesame seeds to garnish

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees or heat the grill

on the stove top combine the El Yucateco Red Habanero Sauce, honey, butter, lime, salt & pepper and heat on medium for 5-7 minutes. Then add the garlic and simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Use 1/2 sauce to coat the wings and throw on the grill or lay on your oven wire rack for 25-30 minutes. If cooking on grill or without wire rack and laying wings directly on parchment paper make sure to turn your wings over half way through.

after cooking remove and you can add fresh squeezed lime and sesame seeds for some crunch to garnish. serve with veggies at your next summer cookout & I promise you will blow everyone away with the flavor!

Just to let everyone know, the green is about 9000 scoville where the red is about 5700 scoville. So don’t get the green expecting it to be milder. It’s right on their website.

Hi – This looks great! What do you do with the other 1/2 of the sauce?
