With so much holiday travel on the horizon I have been happy to try and perfect this easy ponytail. With little time and more and more things added to the to do list quick and pretty hair fixes are so key. I have always been honest, I do not like spending a lot of time on my hair. I usually let it air dry and put it up when I’m at work and although it takes me less than 10 minutes to blow dry (it’s so thin!) I still don’t like it.
The trick is to find cute hairstyles that are easy to do and make you look like you tried a little harder than you did! I know I’ve shared this Suave shampoo and conditioner before but I love the Sea Mineral Infusion line and think it gives me so much more texture for such a great price.
I usually snag it at the Mariano’s while we grocery shop but you can grab it at any Kroger store as well. I try to only use the conditioner on my ends and alternate every other day. My hair is thin so I try to avoid any buildup. Depending on your hair texture you could try to use it more often but I would start lighter and see how it feels.
Due to the thin nature of my hair I start this look with some loose curls. It allows me to add some volume making it easier to tease. Make sure you are using a larger barrel curling iron (mine is 2 inches) and always curl the pieces away from your face. You can always spray with Suave Luxe Volume Hairspray following each step to add some hold.
After the hair is curled create a part wherever you feel comfortable. Although I normally have a side part I like to use a middle part for low ponytails. For some reason I think it looks really sophisticated and is something different for me!
Once the hair is parted split it into 3 sections – one on the right, one on the left & one down the center. Take the center piece first and tease the hair towards the base! Twist that top half of that center section and create a small bump as you pin it.
*Tip: For all my hair tutorials I use salon style bobby pins that are open at the end. Normal bobby pins don’t hold my hair the way I intend and the salon style always stay secure!
After that first section is secured twist the right section and layer over the center. Do the same with the left and secure.
Once the three sections are layered you may need to use strands from the side to layer them to cover any bobby pins that may be showing.
I also like to tease the ponytail at the bottom and spray to hold. If you have shorter pieces in the front feel free to pull those out and add to the ‘messy pony’ look.
I really love the way it turns out and think it’s perfect for weddings or fun date night’s you might have planned! Also, right now you can take advantage of the Buy $5 Save $5 promo when you buy any combo of 5 participating items with your card including the Suave shampoo & conditioner!
