What I’ve Bought Lately

Jul 31, 2020

Good morning and happy Friday friends!

I’m thrilled it’s Friday but also a little bummed that Trevor’s week of vacation is coming to an end. I feel like I have been looking forward to this past week since I came home from the hospital and am sad to see him go back.

We have been talking about taking a road trip to get a little change of scenery lately and I would love to hear from any of you that have done it. Our idea is to basically quarantine like we are now, just somewhere fresh and new. I can’t believe it has almost been 6 months that I have been home with the kids and being in a new environment would be lovely!

We are thinking of renting an Air BnB in a small beach town in Michigan where we can hang out in the backyard, cook at home and enjoy a secluded section of the beach. Please let me know if you have been recently and your thoughts!

As for today’s post, I thought I would share the few purchases I’ve made over the last few months that I have been loving. All practical items that I’ve been wearing repeatedly but that have brought me a bit of joy.

Dress: Amazon – the new mumu I’m in love with! If you are new around here, this mumu was what I basically lived in last year. I ran across this new version and immediately ordered since it was breastfeeding friendly. Not only do I love the buttons all the way down but the sleeves are airy and less constricting and the tie waist and v neck is more flattering I think. It comes in a ton of prints and I stayed TTS and am wearing a small! | Sandals: Splendid, old,  similar – these are my go to summer sandal and you all always ask about them! They are a few seasons old but I linked their current version above which I also love. I am a huge fan of Splendid footwear and always find them to be comfortable, well made and last forever. I always stay TTS!

Adult Masks | Toddler Masks

I searched high and low for masks for both of us and ended up going with these since I found them both in stock in one place! They came surprisingly quick and have worked well for us. The toddler size fits Zain perfectly (he is 3) and I love that we can wash them regularly without them falling apart. I also love these and this version has a flexible nose bar in case you are looking for that!

Ray Ban | Amazon

I shared this comparison over on Instagram stories but recently snagged this pair of sunglasses from Amazon. I love my Ray-Ban’s but hate being constantly worried about them being crushed when I’m in the backyard or out with the kids. This pair is sturdy and looks almost identical!

Beach Read

Let’s be honest, I had every intention of starting this book last week when it arrived but that has not happened. I’ve been reading a lot of heavier books and watching a few new crime shows so a light fun read is much needed. I’m hoping to start next week!

Shirt: Alice & Wonder | Shorts: Free People – also available here & here

These shorts!!! I also shared these on stories last week but I love them and highly reccomend. As someone who hates shorts, these were a win for me. I already own this pair of blue denim shorts I love (I would size up in them if you want the looser fit!) so opted for these in black but they come in several washes. They are a longer length, super stretchy and I love the distressing. I took my usual size which is odd for Free People (I think their stuff always runs small) so I would size down if you want a more snug fit!

Tank: Everlane | Stone Necklace: Nordstrom | Initial Necklace: Etsy | Link Necklace: Gorjana – also here & layered version here

The jewel and initial necklace are both a few years old and staples of mine! If you are looking for an initial necklace that doesn’t break the bank, I highly recommend this one. It was under $15 and I have never had an issue with it. I also love how small and delicate the letter is. I recently purchased this link necklace and haven’t taken it off since! I was also asked about showering with my jewelry frequently: I never do so not sure how any of this would hold up in the water.

Tank: Nordstrom Rack – I wish this had arrived so I could show you a better look at it on but I’m still waiting on it! However, I wanted to share because it is on sale for $14 and was a bestseller the past few weeks. It comes in 3 colors and is a bit cropped from what I can tell so I ordered up to a size medium.

If you have any questions at all, just send me a message and I hope you all have the best weekend!

I read that book back in March also looking for a change of scenery from some heavier stuff I was reading! Not going to spoil it for you, but it took some heavier unexpected turns. I was bummed!
