weekend getaway packing list

My go to travel outfit

Happy Friday friends! Since we are heading out of town this afternoon I thought today’s post would be perfect to share. I know many of you are probably headed off on weekend getaway’s over the summer and/or family vacations so I wanted to share my no fail packing list!

I have aways tried to limit my packing list since I used to be a strict carry on only girl. Now that we have Zain we travel a bit differently but I still try to fit everything in one big suitcase that we check. Since kids seem to have so much stuff (even though they are so tiny) it doesn’t leave a ton of room for our belongings.

In case you missed it, I shared all of our toddler travel must have’s here and my guide to summer swimwear here. Beyond that, here’s what I pack:

Sweaters

No matter how hot our destination is, I get cold. I always pack a light sweater to take with me to dinners and exploring in the evenings. This one is probably my tried and true (I own it in several colors) and this one is my new love! It’s maybe the softest sweater I have ever owned.

Tees

I always pack a few of these and included my favorites below. Black, stripe and white are tried and true and can be paired with so much!

White & Black Jeans

Depending on the location I usually stick to two pairs of denim. When it’s cooler I will pack a blue and black pair and if it’s warmer I love to take a white and black pair. You can dress both of them up or down and they will work all day.

Denim Shorts

You all know how obsessed I am with these denim shorts and I don’t need an excuse to wear them. I know they are a little pricey for denim but the fit is like no other and price per wear they have more than paid for themselves.

Slides

I usually pack a flat and low heeled version! I try to keep it very casual on vacation but it’s nice to have a heeled slide to wear in the evenings to dinner. I wore these sandals to death last year and grabbed them in another color for this season. (More Steven here)

Birkenstocks

My tried and true. These are so comfortable to walk in and won’t hurt my feet after being in them for hours. I still have my first pair and have been eyeing the rubber ones too! (more Birkenstocks here)

Inexpensive Sunglasses

I don’t own any super expensive sunglasses but if you do, don’t take those on vacation. Le Specs is my favorite brand of sunnies and they are all so affordable. I just bought these during the Shopbop sale and am obsessed. If you have a narrow face and traditional aviators look a bit big on you, get them! They fit my face perfectly and I love the matte black look. (More Le Specs here)

A Packable Hat

I love a good hat and always take one with me. I usually pack my tee shirt’s in the concave part of the hat and layer it on the bottom of the suitcase and pack around it and never usually have issues. I have also been very into visors because they make it so easy to throw my hair up in a ponytail and you don’t have to worry about packing them! (More Brixton here)

A Tote Bag

A good bag is a must! This is my go to but I just ordered this new one and will report back on how they differ. I also love this canvas version they just released that is a great budget friendly option.

Sunscreen

It’s a must everyday but I make sure to pack a lot when we are traveling. This is my favorite that I use everyday and this is what I use for Zain. I am thinking about switching and trying BeautyCounter’s sunscreen, have you guys used it?

If I forgot anything you always make sure to pack please share! Hope you guys have an amazing weekend!

The Beautycounter sunscreen is my favorite! It’s the first Beautycounter product I tried and the reason I became a consultant (although I am not any longer). I use it for my kiddos too and found it works the best of the clean sunscreens I tried.
